Trailer Review

I was asked to review the sin city trailer.

Judging from the fast pace, quick cuts, high energy music, and emphasis on violence, sexiness, and fast movements (actions) I have deduced that this is an action film, aimed at 18 to 30 year olds (BBFC classification 18), although it is likely there would be others who would enjoy this film, both male and female.

The colouring, style of text/font, and style of the shots show that it is styled like a graphic novel/comic book, so those interested in that style of storytelling are also a target audience and the fact that not only the film but also the trailer itself has been designed in this same style.

the music in the trailer has a dark 'gritty' feel to it which perfectly matches the feel of the film and the style of the trailer. the shots used in the trailer show the actors and actresses /characters and key moments of interest (certain parts of fights certain facial expressions) and also specific quotes, so as to give the viewer the right understanding of what type of film is being advertised.

the actors/actresses (names in the image)...

...that have been chosen represent 'tough', violent, sexual and attractive aspects of people/the characters/archetypes that will be highlighted in the film. the language used shows intensity in emotion and a sense of a lack of order in this  'city of sin', which gives the idea that the lack of order will eventually lead to a lot of disruption that will need to be fixed (possibly with a lot of shooting and punching).

The location is a dark, dirty, rainy, (sinful) city full of back alleys, this setting tends to be full of all sorts of (sinful) shady dealings. Some outfits also give this dark, shady, and dangerous feel too.

point proven
